FAQ
Questions, answered straight.
Data ownership, cancellation, migration, child safety, contracts — the honest answers, before you ask.
Who owns our data?
You do. Your members, giving records, posts, and media belong to your church. You can export your data at any time — and if you ever leave, it leaves with you.
What happens if we cancel?
You can cancel in-app at any time. Your data remains exportable, and we walk you through getting everything out. No retention games, no hostage data.
Can we migrate from Subsplash, Planning Center, or Tithe.ly?
Yes. Migration is a scoped, priced service (see pricing add-ons) covering members, groups, giving history, and media. We plan it with you so nothing is lost in the move.
How are giving funds handled, and when do we get paid?
Funds flow through Stripe, our payment processor — ZALA never holds church money. Payouts land on Stripe’s standard payout schedule for your country, directly to your church’s bank account.
How do you protect our kids’ data and photos?
No facial recognition, ever. Photos require guardian consent, and kids features are built to comply with COPPA (the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). Child safety is a design constraint, not a checkbox.
How does the white-label app store process work?
On white-label tiers, your church gets its own branded app under your own App Store and Google Play listings. We handle the submission and review process with the stores on your behalf.
What counts as a location for multi-campus pricing?
One building = one location. A campus that meets in its own venue is a location; a small group meeting in a home is not.
What are the contract terms?
Paid tiers carry a 12-month minimum term with annual auto-renew and 60-day non-renewal notice — stated up front, not buried. Self-serve tiers still cancel in-app; the notice period simply sets the end date.
How do you handle security and uptime?
Encryption in flight and at rest, tokenized payments through Stripe, and access controls scoped by staff role and location. The Scale tier carries a contractual uptime service-level agreement (SLA).
Are you really free?
Yes. The Free tier is free forever for churches up to 500 contacts. We earn a small percentage on giving (2% on Free, falling as you grow) — so we only make money when your church is actively receiving generosity. That take-rate is the whole model, stated honestly.
